My Amazon: artist Sara Flores

Sara Flores is a master of kené designs, celebrated both locally and internationally. Her work, rooted in the Shipibo-Konibo-Xetebo Nation’s traditions, uses linear geometric forms to reflect the intricate patterns of nature.
Flores began her artistic journey at 14, learning from her mother, and now collaborates with her daughters, Deysi and Pilar Ramirez. They use plant-based dyes, sourced from the Amazonian flora, to create vibrant, multi-layered designs. This knowledge, passed down through generations, requires a deep, personal connection with the plants.

Caravan of Dreams Gallery’s current exhibition celebrates the strength, vibrancy, and talent of a selection of Latin and Hispanic artists, foregrounding nearly 30 works that reflect a multitude of styles, practices, and cultural expressions.

These works are added to iconic favorites in a gallery that breaks down hierarchies, showing the finest examples of graffiti, hard edged abstraction, ceramics, textile works, and contemporary innovations.

Much like its namesake, Fort Worth’s historic Caravan of Dreams jazz club, the gallery aspires to be a central hub for creativity and cultural exchange, in keeping with Sundance Square’s ongoing commitment to the arts and enhancing Fort Worth’s growing reputation as a world-class art city.
